Conal Benjamin, is stuck in a mundane and lonely existence from which there seems no escape. He rarely leaves the house except to show up to his job as a mechanic, and his only friend is an elderly woman who keeps tabs on her loner neighbor. Conal's life picks up momentum when he is unexpectedly reunited with an old love, but things take a dark turn before he's even had a chance to make a move. Through a fluke of physics and nature during an experiment-gone-wrong at a big science convention, Conal and the woman he has spent years pining over are sent hurling through time, and land during Jack the Ripper's reign of terror. As the two grapple with their growing but complicated feelings for one another. Conal confronts mortality, loss and the seedy underbelly of history as he desperately tries to get himself and his would-be girlfriend back to the present alive.
While trying to find a way home, Conal becomes embroiled in the case when he is recruited to act as a detective with Scotland Yard. A band of street-tough but kind-hearted prostitutes take in Abby, his love interest, leading her straight into Jack the Ripper's path. Conal races the clock struggling to find a way to get himself and Abby home before she comes face-to-face with one of the world's most notorious serial killers.

If you're a fan of time-travel books like I am, this is an excellent book to add to your shelf.Taking some of the traditional elements of THE TIME MACHINE and turning them on their head, DiConti very capably creates a wonderful drama filled with history (1888 England when Jack The Ripper first laid claim to his victims), suspense, romance, and a bit of a sci-fi twist. I was sucked in from the first page and didn't want it to end.
The next book in the series continues the time-travel to a totally different time period, Nazi Germany. If you want a total escape, this is a wonderful book for that. I'm still thinking about the characters and their adventures. I wish the next book were out now!

Someone read this book to me when I was sick. It was addicting. I mean really I couldn't wait to hear what was next. It was exciting, unpredictable and one of those page turners that you just wish never ended. I can't wait for more! This is a must read, just get it and you will be drawn in to fiction and history combined. Great research!
For a first time author, Matthew DiConti spins an excellent tale full of action, suspense and romance. He's also very adept at keeping this particular plot concise, while hinting at the potential for a much larger story in the future. I can't wait to see where he takes these characters next!
Loved it!! It has history, romance, suspense and sci-fi all rolled into one page turner! From the start, I was invested in the characters and was dying to know what happened next! A warning though pick up this book when you have the time to read it all the way through because you won't want to put it down! I can't wait for the next book to come out! P.S. I also recommend reading this book with a friend because you'll want someone to share in the suspense with you!
I read this book twice. Once to myself and again with my drama class. Each student had to choose a character and write a script which we performed. Edge of your seat stuff!
If you are searching for a great book, with suspense, history, star crossed lovers, and a little bit of sheer terror!! Then this is your book! Relativity is a great story that keeps you wanting more. Matt di Conti will keep you guessing, and impatient for book 2!!!

Cant wait to read the next book, hopefully conal finds abby. Loved this book, at first I wasnt too sure but i continued to read the mysterious book and t got more and more intense that eventually I couldnt stop reading.
I had so much fun with this story and all of the characters. Historically accurate at the same time as fun and imaginative. Can not wait for the second!
